Fast and Furious 6

I have to start this off by saying I’ve never watched any of the films in this franchise. I don’t know why I never watched any of them, but after seeing this latest installment, I can see why I never started. Call me a purist, but there was something that felt off throughout the whole movie. The premise behind it was that Toretto, Vin Diesel, and Brian, Paul Walker, gave up their life of crime to try and live the normal life. Lo and behold, some ex-military type person, Luke Evans, has some master plan to kill millions. Hobbs, Dwyane Johnson, then comes in to convince Toretto to get his old team together to try and catch them. From what I understood several characters returned; this included Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, and Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges. Everything up until the end of the movie was highly predictable. That fact and the way they told the audience certain facts was just too much for me. By that I mean, instead of having the audiences figure it out, they just straight up told you what the meaning behind something was. Then the action here was just too over the top. I can appreciate a crazy action movie if it’s in anyway plausible or if they acknowledge that it’s really just fantasy. Fast & Furious 6 takes itself too seriously but they input these crazy action sequences. I’m sorry, but there’s no way three cars with modified harpoons can take down an army cargo plane. There needs to be a certain sense of believability. Also, the movie just felt too drawn out and they couldn’t focus on a singular story; sub-stories are great if done right but it just didn’t blend well for this one. Few movies are perfect for me and I can still enjoy those, but it just didn’t come together for this one. I can see why people are attached to this franchise and if I watched these from the beginning then I may have been more forgiving; but it just tried to do too much for me to really appreciate it.
