The Hangover Part III

by Oliver Layco

The final walkThe Wolf Pack is back in action and this time no one is getting married. Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and Doug (Justin Bartha) gather together to help Alan out so that he can finally grow up. As expected mayhem shortly ensues and Doug is kidnapped yet again and it’s up to the other three to bring him back. John Goodman emerges as an obscure reference from the first movie as the character Marshall. Surprise surprise, he doesn’t like Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) and wants him brought to his feet. Right away I can tell you that it’s much better than the second one mostly because it wasn’t the same formula of the bachelor party gone wrong.  That being said, it fell to the common theme of having the best scenes in the trailers. However, it recovered decently enough to conclude The Hangover trilogy. The movie was split into three distinct parts that felt balanced enough for this type of movie. They started off in California, then events led them to Mexico, and the inevitable return to Vegas was the final act. While the jokes and gags didn’t induce an ab workout from laughter, they were enough to warrant a good chuckle from me. There was also a nice ode to the first movie when Black Doug (Mike Epps) and Jade (Heather Graham) made small appearances to meet up with the gang. The walkway finish at the end was a nice little touch they gave to The Wolf Pack for what could should be there last movie. While I wouldn’t go back to theaters to see it again, I could see myself buying it on DVD one day.

6 out of 10 Bigblue Leaps!!
