Chapter IX The Answering Machine
The phone rang upstairs, but Lopez didn’t move. He stripped off his blood stained clothes and walked naked up stairs locking the basement door behind him. In the living room the curtains were drawn, and he heard the answering machine pick up.
“Mr. Lopez this is Officer Walberg, Philadelphia PD. We have some news about your son’s death. It seems it was the driver who killed him. He apparently hit him, and made up the story about him being pushed. We got the confession out of him a few hours ago. We had been working on him since we initially got the idea from an anonymous phone call from a man who left his name as DW. If you need to contact as you have our number sir.”
