Avengers: Age Of Ultron Preview

by J.D. Cook

James SpaderWell since Ultron has been cast as James Spader so it seems as good a time as any to discuss what I think the plot of Avengers: Age of Ultron is just like I did with Batman Superman yesterday. This is a bit more than a guess so I may not be too far from the actual plot but who knows since Joss Whedon is a great writer and could change the plot a ton before release.

In the comics Ultron is created by Hank Pym a.k.a. Ant Man but since Edgar Wright’s Ant Man comes out after Avengers: Age of Ultron his origin will obviously be changed. My guess is that his creator will be none other than billionaire playboy philanthropist Tony Stark. Remember how he created a bunch of armors that could work independently in Iron Man 3? Remember how he already created an artificial intelligence known as Jarvis? It seems pretty logical that Stark will be the ‘Father’ of Ultron in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

One great thing about the Avengers was that Whedon gave a slight nod to Hawkeye’s comic origins by making him a bad guy for part of the film because in the comics he starts as a bad guy. So I’m thinking much like that, Whedon may give a nod to Ultron’s comic origins where he kidnaps the human version of Jarvis and assembles the Masters of Evil to take on the Avengers. This could be done by Ultron taking over Jarvis for part of the film or maybe even evolving directly from Jarvis. Now let me get even more radical here! What if Ultron takes over Jarvis and then Jarvis re-emerges from Ultron by constructing his own body like that of Ultron’s and calling himself The Vision! The actor who does the voice for Jarvis, Paul Bettany would fit the role of the Vision perfectly!

All of that said I have a feeling S.H.I.E.L.D. will be involved with Ultron’s creation as well. I’m thinking they need a larger force to patrol the world and turn to Stark who has recently given up directly fighting inside of his Iron Man suit. He’s looking to help the world in a different way so he thinks this is perfect. He can create an A.I. to fight crime and do what he did without putting himself at risk so that he can stay home with Pepper (who he should now be married to since that is the logical next step in their relationship).

Avengers Assemble

Anyway Ultron’s origin is what I’m really interested in. I’m thinking that there will be hints to this in both the S.H.I.E.L.D. show and Captain America: The Winter Soldier while Thor: The Dark World is more of a standalone adventure and the Guardians of the Galaxy starts to set up the third Avengers film where everyone will hopefully team up to stop Thanos! As far as the rest of the plot for the Avengers: Age of Ultron I’m hoping Thor gets offed and comes back from Asgard at the climax of the story and I’m hoping when he goes down and all hope looks lost Captain America picks up Mjölnir and takes Ultron’s head clean off while yelling Avengers Assemble! Oh and it would be cool if Ultron teamed up with some of the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are still kicking like Abomination and maybe the Winter Solider to form some sort of mini-Masters of Evil.

Ok those are my thoughts on it. Comment, Discuss, Hate I don’t care just don’t ignore!
